Cardamom and Lime-infused water

Cardamom and Lime-infused water

I have an unreasonable obsession with everything cardamom. When C and I were first dating, there was an amazing little Afghan restaurant down the road we used to frequent that made the best cardamom-infused Moscow Mules. At least once a month, we would stop by their roof deck for a drink – we spent so much time there we even shot our engagement pictures sipping that drink on that roof.

Alas, the restaurant has moved to a bigger space and I’m left to make my own cardamom drinks at home. My newest addiction? Cardamom and orange infused water. It has all of the elements I loved about the Mules – the intensity of the cardamom, a hint of citrus and light sweetness from infused lime slides – minus the sugar and booze.

I find myself sipping on this instead of a second cup of coffee in the morning, and then again in the evening as we unwind and watch up on our Netflix queue after the girls are in bed. I just can’t get enough! And, because we have fresh, purified (tasteless) water delivered right to our front door every two weeks, I can always start infusing a new pitcher. A little goes a long way with cardamom. Pick up just a few pods at your local health food store. Alternately, you can buy cardamom pods on Amazon.

Looking for a cocktail variation? Use Mountain Valley Sparkling Water or a carbonation machine to add bubbles to your water. Mix in a shot of juniper-forward gin and a small squeeze of lime. Garnish with a slice of lime.
