The Top 5 Houses for Playhouse Makeovers

Playhouse makeovers or playhouse hacks are all the rage right now. We had planned on buying E a play kitchen for her “big girl room” for Christmas, but as soon as I came across this playhouse makeover when browsing Pinterest, I knew we had to incorporate one into her room too.

I mean, look at how cute these are!

Most of the playhouse makeovers on Pinterest are made from one of five common playhouse options, with slightly different price points and sizes. You get to take advantage of my Type A planner tendencies and grab all the info on all five playhouse makover options, plus inspo for redesigning each style, all in one place!

1 // Backyard Discovery Timberlake Playhouse.

This low cost option for a playhouse makeover caught Cody’s eye ($129 at Walmart) and there have been some cute hacks of it. It comes with a little half door that would be so cute painted pink or sea foam green, and has a built-in kitchen along the back wall. Ultimately we wanted something a touch bigger – but if you’re working with a small space, this is definitely the best option!

$139 on Walmart.com // 42”W x 46”D x 55”H or 3’6”W x 3’10”D x 4’7”H

2 // Backyard Discovery Aspen Playhouse

This house is similar to the Timberlake, but a few inches deeper and one foot taller. The website dimensions list this as more than 6′ wide, however that includes the fence and mailbox to one side, and the bench to the other. Leave those off (like we plan to) to save space.

$250 on Wayfair // 47”W x 52”D x 67”H or  3’9”W x 4’4”D x 5’7”H

3 // KidKraft Greystone Playhouse

Our friends have this playhouse and it’s so darn cute. You’ll find a ton of hacks for this one. Unfortunately, it was just a little too large for the room we were putting it in – but if we were keeping it outside, this is definitely the one we would get!

$490 on Wayfair // 72”W x 44”D x 79”H or 6’H x 3’8”D x 6’7”H

4 // KidKraft Hillcrest Playhouse

If you wanted a house you didn’t have to repaint, but didn’t love the look of raw cedar, than this is definitely the one for you! Paint the door a pretty hue of blue and you’re done! The Hillcrest could easily be transformed into an adorable cafe or bakery, with a large serving window.

$349 at Walmart // 53.9″W  x 53.86″D  x 56.46″H or 4’6”W x 4’6”D x 4’9”H

5 // KidKraft Georgian Manor

I love, love, LOVE the look of this one, but it was just a little too tall for our room. Your kids could really grow into this one, plus the options with all of that decorative trim are endless!

$399 at Walmart // 70″W x 54″D x 71″H or 5’10″W x 4’6″D x 5’11″H
